Hello and welcome to my clinic.

From a young age I have been acutely aware of the devastation chronic pain can wreak upon an individual and their family.

My passion for this area of medicine lies in watching my own father's life-long battle with chronic pain.

One of the key developments in the world of pain medicine is the move away from pharmacotherapy & rehabilitation to treating pain with the assistance of cutting-edge medical devices.

Since 1990 I’m proud to say that I have played a leading role bringing these treatments to Ireland (and the World) with many firsts, including the latest High-Frequency Spinal Cord Stimulation (HF10).

My goal is to give my patients previously unheard of levels of pain relief - with a minimal requirement for medication.

A Pioneer in Pain Medicine

Recognised as a key innovator Dr O’Keeffe has spent over thirty years leading the field in Pain Medicine in Ireland.

His pioneering work in the field has brought many 'firsts' to patients in Ireland and the world.

1991 - as a Consultant Anesthesiologist - specialising in pain medicine - at St Vincent’s Healthcare Group, Dr O'Keeffe set up the first multidisciplinary pain service in Ireland.

1994 - Dr O'Keeffe implanted the first spinal cord stimulator in Ireland.

2005 - Dr O'Keeffe was the first doctor to implant an SCS rechargeable battery outside of the US.

2008, he installed the first ever Medtronic Restore Sensor in the world.

2010 - Dr O'Keeffe carried out the first ever commercial operation on a patient using Nevro’s HF10 Senza High Frequency technology. Since then Dr O’Keeffe has implanted in excess of 350 Nevro High Frequency systems

2016 - Dr O'Keeffe opened a bespoke pain management clinic at St. Francis' Hospital, Mullingar. In five years Dr. O'Keeffe has given pain relief to in excess of 10,000 patients.
